London faces road salt shortage

City staff say London is low on road salt, forcing road crews to make adjustments.

Officials say starting this weekend, crews will be plowing major streets more frequently to reduce the need for salt.

Roads with schools, hospitals, and bus routes will also be prioritized.

Residential streets will be plowed afterward.

The city says more sand will also be used in combination with salt to conserve supplies.

Road salt reserves have been depleted across Ontario thanks to an early and especially harsh winter.
