A 77 year old from Petrolia was arrested and charged following a child sexual exploitation investigation by OPP on Oct. 7. Police searched the suspect’s residence, seizing a number of electronic devices. The individual faces two charges of child pornography. They’ve since been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 2026 in Sarnia. The OPP says the safety of children is a top priority. “Offenders are increasingly misusing everyday technology and popular apps to share illegal content, connect with others who share their intent, and target vulnerable children. These platforms, designed for connection and creativity, are being exploited in ways the public rarely sees,” said Detective Staff Sergeant Chris Barkey.
