‘It’ll feel like spring’: Beautiful conditions Friday afternoon before weekend snowfall

It will be a beautiful springlike Friday before the snow returns over the weekend. Here's Julie Atchison with what you need to know.

Friday afternoon will give the region an early look at springtime before the snow returns Saturday night.

According to CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison, there will be a chance of flurries north of London in the northern part of Bruce County, including the Bruce Peninsula overnight Thursday, with a couple centimetres of snow expected. Overnight there will be partly cloudy skies in the Forest City.

The overnight low will dip down to –8 C, feeling like –6 in the evening and –13 overnight.

While Thursday night will be chilly, Atchison says there’s something to look forward to for the end of the workweek.

“In London, it’ll feel like spring Friday afternoon [with] gorgeous conditions,” Atchison said.

Friday’s daytime high will reach 6 C with a mix of sun and cloud. Winds will be sustained at 20 km/h and gusting to 40 km/h in the afternoon. With the wind chill it will feel like – 8 in the morning as you head out the door.

Cloud cover will increase Friday night, with a low of –1 C. Overcast conditions will persist on Saturday with a daytime high of 3 C, but Atchison says there’s another chance of snow overnight Saturday.

“This is a clipper that’ll drop in from the Prairies, it will bring one to three centimeters Saturday night into Sunday,” she said. “Cold air will follow and that means lake effect flurries on Sunday.”

Saturday: Increasing cloudiness. High plus 3.

Sunday: A mix of sun and cloud with 40 percent chance of flurries. High minus 5.

Monday: A mix of sun and cloud. High minus 3.

Tuesday: Cloudy with 40 percent chance of rain or snow. High plus 2.

Wednesday: Cloudy. High plus 5.
