Names have been chosen for four new public schools being built in the London area. The new names follow the Thames Valley District School Board’s new practice of taking suggestions from the community, rather than naming schools after significant individuals. In Lucan, Clover Public School on Saintsbury Line is expected to open in February 2027. The $25 million dollar facility will accommodate 531 students and 88 childcare spaces. In west London, the $27 million Riverbend Public School on Upperpoint Avenue will accommodate 525 students, along with a five-room childcare centre. It’s scheduled to open in September 2027. In southeast London, the $28 million dollar Jackson Meadows Public School is going up on Honeywood Drive in the Jackson Meadows subdivision. It’s scheduled to open in September 2026. It will have a capacity of 655 students, plus a five-room childcare centre. And in the town of Belmont, the new Belmont Meadows Public School is scheduled to open in January 2027. The $24 million facility will have a capacity of 507 students. The new school names were submitted through community input. Respondents were asked to rank the name options in order of preference.
