Forest City to see mix of winter, spring weather this week

From flurries to sunshine, overcast skies and rainfall, London will see it all this week. Julie Atchison breaks down the forecast.

From flurries to sunshine, rain and temperatures dipping below freezing and soaring to double digits, London’s first full week of spring will be a chaotic one.

“Although the calendar says spring, it still feels winter like across the area north of London, temperatures hovering below freezing,” said CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison.

Temperatures will only peak at 1 C on Monday, and Atchison says while no significant snowfall is expected, “persistent” flurries are pushing through the area with strong wind gusts, until the evening when it’s expected to taper off.

“It’s going to be cold tonight,” she said.

In London, temperatures will dip down to –8 C, feeling like –11 with the wind chill overnight.

Looking ahead to Tuesday, Atchison says we’re in store for some well-deserved sunshine. While things will feel like –13 C in the morning with the wind chill, the daytime high will soar to 5 C.

“That will help push temperatures up, especially in the London area in the afternoon,” she said. “A nice day-to-day warming on the way.”

While the weather itself will be a mixed bag through the rest of the week, including overcast skies on Wednesday, rain on Thursday, sunshine on Friday and flurries on Saturday, the temperatures will stay mostly well above freezing during this time, with highs of between 0 C and 15 C expected.

Thursday: Cloudy with 60 percent chance of rain. High 15.

Friday: Sunny. High zero.

Saturday: A mix of sun and cloud with 30 percent chance of flurries. High plus 4.
