The Fanshawe College Falcons women’s basketball team has advanced to the Canadian College Athletic Association (CCAA) gold medal game after an 89-78 overtime win over Dawson College. After the Blues sent the game to OT with no time left in regulation, Fanshawe outscored them 13-2 in the extra period. Ashlyn Anderson scored 31 points with Edith Eseme adding 19 for the winners. The Falcons, who face the VIU Mariners in Saturday evenings final, are one win away from the first women’s national title in program history. It also guarantees coaches Bill and Theresa Carriere will get their first CCAA medal in eight trips to the national tournament.
