An e-bike rider has died following a collision with an SUV south of Aylmer on Friday morning. The crash occurred at the intersection of John Wise Line and Imperial Road at about 6:30 a.m., according to Elgin OPP Const. Jeff Beaumaster. Police said the e-bike rider was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. Beaumaster said there were about six occupants in the SUV, none of whom were injured. The SUV sustained significant damage to the passenger-side door. The OPP’s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team was called to the scene to assist with the investigation. According to Beaumaster, the specialized team reconstructs collision scenes to help determine what caused a crash and who may be at fault. All roads leading to the intersection remain closed as investigators continue to examine the scene. Police expect the closures to remain in place for much of the day. The investigation is ongoing.
