Traffic on Wharncliffe Road had to be detoured Monday morning after a vehicle struck a building. Police say the crash happened around 9:45 a.m. at Wharncliffe Road and Byron Avenue. Northbound traffic on Wharncliffe is being rerouted after a vehicle hit a building on the northeast corner of the intersection. London fire says the building suffered significant damage, and required “advanced stabilization” from fire crews. It’s not yet clear how the crash occurred, and there is no word on possible charges. More information will be released as it becomes available. Hold and secure at nearby school As a result of the crash, nearby Victoria Public School temporarily entered a hold and secure at the direction of London police, according to an email sent out to parents. Students were asked to remain indoors for their morning recess. The hold and secure has since been lifted, and kids were permitted to have their afternoon recess outdoors as normal.
