The Beer Store has announced its latest list of retail store closures. Among them is the northwest London location at Wonderland and Gainsborough roads. “I’m kind of a big fan of beer, so I guess I’m kind of split. I’d like to see beer more readily available, but I hate to see them close and people get out of work,” said one customer after hearing the news Wednesday. The Beer Store says the outlet, located behind Sherwood Forest Mall, will close effective Nov. 2, 2025. It is one of six closures announced Wednesday in cities across the province. The Beer Store said customers should check its website for empties-return locations. In the meantime, Ontario grocery stores that sell alcohol will be required to accept empties beginning Jan. 1, 2026. Moving forward, The Beer Store has launched a new Empty Return Locator, which offers a list of any retailer accepting empties. “I think the Beer Store’s had a monopoly too long. As a past cross-border shopper before Trump, even their return policy, and their buying beer in the corner store, Quebec has adopted that. I think Ontario took way too long to do it,” commented a customer returning empties Wednesday at the location slated for closure.
