Starting Monday, construction will begin for the Sunningdale Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements project. The project will require lane restrictions in both directions of Sunningdale Road between Villagewalk Boulevard and Redford Road, and on Richmond Street from Villagewalk Boulevard to Uplands Drive until approximately fall 2025. The work includes widening Sunningdale Road from two-lanes to four-lanes through the intersection and adding additional turning lanes. New in-boulevard bike paths and sidewalks will also be constructed. Underground infrastructure (storm sewers, and watermains) upgrades will be completed as part of the project as well. Drivers travelling through the area are advised to expect delays. Signs have been installed to help guide traffic through the area. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout this work on at least one side of the road. People biking are encouraged to use alternative routes when possible and follow signs to reach their destination. Some LTC stops along Sunningdale Road and Richmond Street may be impacted during construction and transit riders are advised to visit the LTC website for service updates. All businesses remain open and accessible during construction.
