The City of London has put over $5 million in profits from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation to good use. Through the Municipality Contribution Agreement, a portion of the profits from Gateway Casinos London will help fund programs offered by Type DiaBeat It, among other local initiatives. “The City of London is grateful for the ongoing partnership and commitment of OLG’s Gateway Casinos London,” said Mayor Josh Morgan. “Their continued support is helping strengthen our community by investing in projects and initiatives that create meaningful opportunities, enhance quality of life, and make London a better place to live, work and visit.” To date, the city has received over $100 million from OLG through this partnership. Type DiaBeat It helps promote food literacy for Black people and people of colour, offering education about healthy food choices, while maintaining cultural practices. Funds also benefited the restoration of the roof at Dearness Home, upgrades to local recreation facilities, road maintenance, the purchase of hybrid electric vehicles, and the support of other community organizations.
