2,600 jobs available in midwestern Ontario as unemployment rate falls

Midwestern Ontario sees jobless rate drop to lowest rate in Ontario again to 4.3%.

The unemployment rate in the midwestern Ontario has fallen to 4.3 per cent, making it the lowest unemployment rate in Ontario.

In October, the unemployment rate fell 0.5 per cent, thanks to 6,400 jobs added last month in Huron, Perth, Bruce, and Grey Counties.

Agriculture, construction, and utilities saw some of the biggest job gains, while manufacturing employment, fell.

“This month’s report is very positive with a huge gain in overall employment,” said Dana Soucie, executive director of the Four County Labour Market Planning Board. “The increase in participation rate was a welcome and positive sign for our Region.”

Current job openings for the Stratford to Bruce Peninsula region continue to climb since the pandemic, currently sitting at 2,600 job vacancies across the region.
