21-year-old man charged in Sarnia IPV investigation

The Sarnia Police Service has arrested and charged a 21-year-old Sarnia man in connection with an intimate partner violence investigation.

On March 2 in the early morning hours, police received a call for an alleged assault in-progress between a man and his girlfriend.

Police arrived within two minutes and said the man ran. A search was not successful.

Through an investigation, the SPS learned an argument escalated into ‘multiple acts of violence.’ They said the victim was assaulted, threatened, and assaulted with a weapon. The suspect was also reportedly subject to multiple court conditions, including an order not to contact the victim and to live at a specific address.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

On March 6, the suspect was arrested. The 21-year-old Sarnia man is now facing the following charges:

• Two counts of sexual assault
• Two counts of assault
• Assault with a weapon
• Two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death
• Three counts of failure to comply with a release order
