A 15-year-old Huron County boy who stabbed an 11-year-old girl to death, will most likely be sentenced for his crime this October. The 15-year-old, who cannot be named because they are a young offender, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in June, for the brutal killing of an 11-year-old girl in Holmesville. The incident happened on July 2, 2024. Court heard that the murder suspect and victim knew each other, and the 15-year-old was interested in having sex with the girl. A psychologist assessment has not been completed, as of yet, but court expects it to be completed before the next court appearance, on Sept. 29. At that point, a sentencing date is expected to be set for Oct. 13,14, or 16. The maximum sentence for a young offender found guilty of first-degree murder is 10 years, six of which would be served behind bars. The 15-year-old boy, who was 13 at the time of the murder, has already served 26 months in custody awaiting his sentence.
