Guelph waitress assaulted and then punched in the face

Police have charged a Guelph man with assaulting a waitress at a downtown business.

On Sunday, around 1 a.m., a customer allegedly touched the woman in an inappropriate way.

“The woman reacted and pushed the man away, then was punched twice in the face causing a minor injury,” Guelph Police said in a media release. “The man fled but was located a short distance away and arrested.”

The 27-year-old did not know the woman.

Police charged the man with sexual assault and assault.
