A Guelph man and woman face drug and weapons charges following an investigation into suspected drug trafficking. The Guelph Police Service began investigating a man believed to be involved in trafficking controlled substances earlier this fall. Police said the man and a woman were observed leaving a north-end motel and were arrested Friday afternoon. A search of the pair allegedly turned up a small quantity of suspected crack cocaine, Dilaudid tablets and cash. Police said a search of the motel room uncovered more suspected cocaine, contaminated digital scales and several weapons including bear spray, a collapsible baton and hunting knife. Police estimate the seized drugs have a value of more than $18,000. A 25-year-old Guelph man and 28-year-old Guelph woman are each charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon. The man is also charged with 17 counts of breaching court orders.
