London is preparing for four days of comedy as the Sorry! Comedy Festival brings performers, industry talent, and dozens of shows to venues across the city. There will be 23 shows at 10 venues, including performances by established comedians, emerging talent, and a comedy competition. Organizers say the event could be one of the largest comedy festivals London has ever hosted. “We’ve got an incredible four days of comedy coming up. Not only are the top comics coming in to perform in this contest, but we have some of the biggest names in comedy over four days, 10 venues, 23 shows,” said Colin McDougall, CEO of the Sorry! Comedy Festival. “It is going to be, I think, perhaps the largest comedy festival that’s ever happened in London,” Beyond the performances, organizers say the festival is also intended to create opportunities for comedians who face barriers breaking into the industry. For Pat Tiffin, a comedian with autism who has been performing for 18 years, getting booked and building a career has not always been easy. “Having done this as a comedian with autism for 18 years, it is hard. Out there to book shows. So this allows us to have that credit when we need to do something a little bit bigger than what we normally do,” Tiffin said. The festival features a mix of comedy performances and events, including stand-up, improv, roast battles, workshops, and the SlideSlam! Canadian finals. Organizers hope the event will help establish London as a destination for comedy while giving local and emerging performers a platform to reach new audiences.
