Guelph Police say an impaired driver was caught with two young kids in the back seat. Their vehicle was spotted on Woodlawn Road East around 7:40 p.m. Saturday and reported to police. “A short time later [the caller] observed the involved vehicle turning into a driveway and parking half on the grass,” a media release said. The officer who responded to the scene noticed two children under the age of 10 in the back seat. Neither of them were wearing a seat belt. Police said the driver, a 43-year-old Guelph man, failed a roadside breath test. “[He was] transported to the police station, where further tests revealed he had more than twice the legal amount of alcohol in his system,” they said. Police then learned the man had also been charged with impaired driving last September. “Those charges are still before the courts,” they said. The man was charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving for the incident on Saturday. His licence was suspected for 90 days and his vehicle seized indefinitely “to prevent further offences.”
