Guelph Police have charged a man who held a woman at knifepoint. It started with an altercation between two men at Gordon Street and Nottingham Street around 8:25 a.m. on Sunday. Police said the woman saw one of them holding knife. When she tried to deescalate the situation, the man held the knife up to her throat. He then pushed her to the ground and also ended up falling on top of her. Officers arrested the man and, when they searched him, also found a machete, box cutter and a second knife. The 30-year-old was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, assault and two counts of breaching a probation order.
