A joyride in a Guelph river has led to the arrest of a local man according to Guelph Police. Investigators say the incident happened Wednesday just before 10 a.m., when a witness reported seeing two males in a Jeep driving on a pedestrian path at the skatepark on Wellington Street West. This led to the two men intentionally driving into the Speed River and continuing for around 600 metres. Officers located the Jeep still half in the river under the Hanlon Expressway when they arrived on scene. A 53-year-old man was then arrested and charged with careless driving and failing to display two licence plates.
