Guelph Police say a collision involving a cyclist has resulted in charges for a passerby. The 38-year-old on the bike was hit at Gordon Street and McGilvray Street around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday. Police said the cyclist was transported to hospital with a leg injury. The driver was also hurt. Police said a third person, unconnected to the crash, punched the driver in the face twice. The responding officer noted he had “significant” swelling on his lip and cheek. The driver, a 67-year-old man from Guelph, was charged with making an illegal turn. Police said the passerby was a 29-year-old man from Georgetown. He was charged with assault.
