Woman accused of calling 911 to make fake reports and threatening police

A Kitchener woman was arrested for repeatedly making in false reports to 911 and then threatening the officers who showed up at her home.

Waterloo Regional Police said they were first called to Old Chicopee Drive and Holborn Drive around 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

The woman claimed she had been assaulted inside a local shopping mall.

Investigators later determined the allegations were unfounded.

“Despite being advised of the findings, the female continued to make repeated 911 calls with the intent of tying up emergency resources,” police said in a media release. “Officers attended the female’s residence on multiple occasions and warned her that continued misuse of emergency services could result in criminal charges.”

During the last of those interactions, the woman allegedly exited her home armed with two “edged weapons.” Police said she also threatened the responding officers.

The woman was arrested and faces multiple criminal charges, including public mischief.
