A hate-motivated incident that took place in a Kitchener neighbourhood has led to an arrest. Waterloo Regional Police say the incident happened near Bankside Drive and Benesfort Drive on June 6, where two people were approached by an unknown male around 10:15 p.m. The suspect became aggressive with the two victims, yelling racial comments at them before a physical altercation ensued. There were no reported physical injuries. On June 9, police charged a 52-year-old Kitchener male with two counts of assault, mischief under $5,000, mischief-interfere with lawful use or enjoyment, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
