Waterloo Regional Police have arrested two people after officers allegedly caught them breaking into a multi-unit residential building. Police said officers were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Hickory Street and Hemlock Street Saturday morning when they observed a 20-year-old Waterloo woman and a 31-year-old Waterloo man committing a break and enter. Both were arrested as they left the building. Police said investigators determined at the time of the arrests that both accused were wanted on outstanding warrants. The 31-year-old man was also wanted in connection with a robbery involving a knife that occurred earlier this month, police said. Multiple charges have been laid against the pair. In total, they face 16 Criminal Code charges, including break and enter, possession of break-in instruments, possession of stolen property, weapons offences and failing to comply with court orders. The investigation remains ongoing.
