It may be the middle of summer, but skating enthusiasts can still lace up and take a few laps around an outdoor rink in Kitchener, Ont. Moose Winooski’s and Pro Hockey Life teamed up to bring a synthetic ice rink to the restaurant on Heldmann Road. It will be open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. and users will need to bring their own skates. The restaurant says it will be open throughout the rest of the summer and it is use at your own risk. The hope is people will get their skates sharpened at Pro Hockey Life, work up an appetite on the rink and then head inside the restaurant for a bite to eat, but the rink is free to use and Moose Winooski’s said there is no obligation to buy anything. Regular skates can be used on the synthetic ice surface.
