Police looking for driver who fled from traffic stop

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is looking for a driver who took off when an officer tried to pull him over for a traffic stop in Kitchener.

The officer was conducting traffic enforcement on foot on King Street near Sportsworld Drive on Monday around 2:25 p.m. and spoke with a pickup truck driver about the vehicle’s tinted windshield. During that conversation, the officer said they could smell cannabis and told the driver to pull over to the side of the road.

However, the driver sped off eastbound toward Highway 401.

The vehicle has been described as a white 1994-2001 Dodge Ram 3500 extended-cab dually with tinted windows. The licence plate began with the letters BW.

The driver is described as a white man between 19 and 29-years-old with a slim build.
