Police investigating more than a dozen reports of fraudulent projector sales

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is looking for any tips that might shed some light on more than a dozen reports of fraudulent projector sales across Waterloo Region.

In a news release on Sunday, police said they have received at least 14 reports of people trying to sell electronic projectors out of vehicles between Aug. 7 and Oct. 9.

Police said the would-be sellers claimed the projectors were ‘high-value products’ and said they were offering them at significant discounts.

However, after buying a projector, victims said they learned the item had been misrepresented and was actually poor quality.

Police are urging everyone to be vigilant and avoid buying items from unknown people working outside of legitimate businesses.

Anyone with more information is urged to contact investigators.
