Pickup damaged during unsuccessful theft attempt

Some would-be thieves targeted the wrong pickup truck in Guelph.

Guelph Police said three people, travelling in a silver Honda sedan, were seen around 1 a.m. Thursday pulling up beside a 2002 GMC Sierra near a business on Woodlawn Road West.

Officers were told two of the suspects tried to get inside the vehicle but were unable to start it.

“The business owner reported the vehicle was not operable as the transmission had been removed for repairs,” police said. “The suspects caused an estimated $5,000 in damage to the truck.”
