Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a man following a shooting and alleged kidnapping that happened in Kitchener Police say officers responded to a home near Courtland Avenue and Hayward Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, where a man had reportedly been shot. Once police arrived, the victim had already left the area. An investigation ensued, where police learned that the male suspect also forced a female victim and her child into a vehicle before fleeing. The vehicle was then spotted in Waterloo near Weber Street and Albert Street, where officers attempted a traffic stop. Police say the suspect then fled the vehicle, leading to a foot pursuit. He was later located with the assistance of the canine unit and the emergency response team. The female victim and the child were found with no physical injuries. A firearm was also found in the vehicle. A 33-year-old Waterloo man was arrested and charged with several offences, including fail to comply with probation, disobeying a court order, and use of a firearm in commission of offence – kidnapping. Investigators were able to find the male victim and confirm his well-being. Police say the involved parties are known to one another.
