Toronto police will be providing an update this morning on the murder of a 31-year-old father who was shot and killed while sitting in his vehicle in Scarborough in 2022. Ding Ping Wang was fatally shot while sitting in his car in the parking lot of a plaza in the area of Midland and Passmore avenues on the evening of Nov. 12, 2022. Last month, police released surveillance footage from the scene that was captured the day before the homicide. The video, police said, showed the man they believe to be responsible for the shooting walking through the plaza on Nov. 11. The lead investigators previously said the footage indicates the suspect conducted “reconnaissance” of the area before carrying the murder. An artist rendering of the suspect was also released by police last month in an attempt to identify the person responsible. Det.-Sgt. Sajeev Nair will provide an update on the case at Toronto police headquarters at 10 a.m.
