Two people have been charged as part of a drug trafficking investigation that began in early 2026. The Waterloo Regional Police said they searched a home in the Country Hills Drive area of Kitchener on Wednesday and seized a loaded handgun, ammunition and suspected drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine and hydromorphone. A 34-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested and have jointly been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, and careless storage of a firearm. The man was additionally charged with possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order and failure to comply with a probation order, while the woman was charged with failure to comply with a court order.
