Hundreds of shoes recovered from back of stolen truck

Waterloo Regional Police say a stolen box truck was abandoned on a Cambridge street Tuesday night and inside was approximately 800 pairs of shoes.

The vehicle was spotted near Townline Road around 10:30 p.m.

Shortly after, officers tried to initiate a traffic a stop at Franklin Boulevard Road and Avenue Road, but the driver wouldn’t pull over.

The truck was found about 20 minutes later at Sheldon Drive and Lingard Road. The driver had fled.

Police said the approximately 800 pairs of work boots and shoes were also believed to be stolen.

Anyone with information on the theft, or knows the identify the driver, is asked to call the WRPS’ Break, Enter, and Vehicle Theft Team at 519-570-9777, ext. 8255. Tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
