A 48-year-old inmate at the Grand Valley Institute for Women in Kitchener has died. Correctional Service Canada said Jennifer Simao died in custody on Wednesday due to “apparent natural causes.” She was serving a three-year sentence, which began on June 15. Correctional Service of Canada said they will be reviewing the circumstances surrounding her death, as they do in all cases involving an inmate, and notify both the police and coroner.
