Elmira man charged after $600K in drugs seized in trafficking investigation

An Elmira man has been arrested following a “lengthy” drug trafficking investigation that resulted in the seizure of an estimated $600,000 worth of drugs, according to Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police.

Police said the investigation began in March in cooperation with several other counties across southwestern Ontario.

Investigators executed two search warrants in Waterloo Region on Sept. 3, recovering cash and other items allegedly used in the drug trafficking operation.

A 26-year-old Elmira native was charged with:

• Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
• Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of tracking - other drugs (two counts)
• Possession of a schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
• Possession of a schedule 4 substance for the purpose of trafficking
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 - in Canada
