Five people were taken to hospital after a vehicle that police attempted to stop later crashed in Guelph-Eramosa Township. Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate and is investigating the single-vehicle collision. The incident began shortly after midnight Sunday, when Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a vehicle. “The vehicle failed to stop, and police disengaged,” OPP said in a media release. “All five occupants were transported to hospital for assessment, and three were confirmed to have sustained injuries.” The OPP notified the SIU. As a result, police said they will not be providing further information about the incident.
