Brant-Brantford Crime Stoppers has launched a new campaign as concerns about fentanyl use in the community continue to grow. In a news release Thursday, the organization announced cash rewards of up to $1,000 for anonymous tips that lead to significant fentanyl seizures or the arrest of fentanyl traffickers in Brantford, Brant County or Six Nations of the Grand River. They say the campaign called “Stop Fentanyl. Save Lives.” is in response to three community drug alerts about suspected drug poisonings and overdose deaths issued by Grand Erie Public Health. The first alert was published in January following seven suspected drug poisonings within four days, followed by a second alert in February after seven non-fatal overdoses in Brantford in one week. The final alert came in June after four suspect drug-related deaths in seven days. “This drug is killing members of our community and tearing families apart. We can’t afford to stay silent,” Maureen Arabski, chair of Brant-Brantford Crime Stoppers, said in a news release “If you know something, report it to Brant Brantford Crime Stoppers.” Tips can be made by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or by visiting crimestoppersbb.com.
