A year after saying “I moo,” a miniature Highland cow couple that captured hearts with a first-of-its-kind wedding has welcomed a new addition to the family. Muriel and Rhett, the miniature Highland cows married at Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life in Bright, Ont. in June 2025, are now parents to a calf named Joe. “We have the most beautiful little baby Joe from the two of them,” said farm co-founder Cheryl Haskett. Joe was born in March and, according to the farm, is happy, healthy and quickly becoming a visitor favourite. But while Joe’s arrival may seem like the perfect happy ending, the farm says the story has taken an unexpected twist. “Like in any relationship, there was some struggles, there were some challenges,” Cheryl said. According to Cheryl, Rhett also fathered another calf with Cookie, one of Muriel’s pasture mates. That calf, named Gingersnap, was born earlier this month. Cheryl’s husband and farm co-founder Greg Haskett said staff have been jokingly working through the relationship drama. “I’ve been talking to Rhett about rebuilding trust and what it takes for a long-lasting relationship. It’s going to take some time,” he said. For now, Muriel and Rhett are back sharing the same corral, while Joe continues to charm visitors. The playful storyline has become part of the farm’s appeal, with the Hasketts dubbing the ongoing saga “Days of our Livestock.” “We have seen a lot of people coming, really wanting to meet the couple, which has been really nice to see,” Cheryl said. The Hasketts also said they hope the bovines can move past the relationship road bump and take their growing family to greener pastures.
