The first red carpet event of 2016 showed off the best tuxedos, flowing gowns and glittery sheath dresses of the season, ahead of the Golden Globe Awards.
Jamie Foxx was one of the happiest people on the red carpet, after learning his daughter, Corrine Bishop, would be Miss Golden Globe for the night. The honour typically goes to the child of a celebrity.
Foxx was very excited about the honour for Bishop.
"This girl - never been in trouble, she don't ask me for no money, she don't ask me for nothing, so this is perfect for her to come out," Foxx said.
Neck-high white gowns were a popular choice on the red carpet, with "Orange is the New Black" star Laverne Cox showing off a simple design with a large train.
"Ex Machina" star Alicia Vikander also chose a neck-high gown, but with pleats and a crossed back, from Louis Vuitton.
Eva Longoria had a twist on the white gown look, with a glitzy cutout neckline and flowers embroidered on the hips of her dress.
But Taraji P. Henson showed up her white-dressed peers, if only because she nailed every single pose for the red carpet photographers.

But not all white gowns were a success. Twitter users compared Jane Fonda's frills to Pagliacci, lemon meringue and the embarassing puffy shirt Jerry Seinfeld once wore in "Seinfeld."
Several actresses hit the red carpet in striking red dresses, including Emmy Rossum, Natalie Dormer, Felicity Huffman and the girl on fire, Jennifer Lawrence.

Some pulled off the red better than others. Zendaya, for instance, looked like a red Christmas tree with her tiered dress. One is left to ask: are there three children standing on each other's shoulders under there?
Meanwhile, Olivia Wilde (not Munn) rocked her appearance with a slinky, sequin dress in dark red.
If red on the red carpet sounds too easy, how about gold for the Golden Globes?
There were plenty of eye-catching gold dresses at the, including the ones sported by Brie Larson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Kate Hudson broke from the crowd a bit with her gold outfit - a long skirt and a tube top, along with a gold choker.

And while it wasn't quite gold, Jennifer Lopez still sparkled in her own way, with an eye-popping yellow gown and short cape, accented in diamonds.
Amanda Peet had one of the more... interesting looks, in a tattered-looking dress from Alexander McQueen.
But if Amanda Peet's dress looked a little rough around the edges, Rooney Mara's dress took "tattered" to a whole new level. Yeesh.
Julianne Moore arrived (perhaps from the future?) in a slinky metallic blue dress, in one of the more unique looks of the night.
