A pair of Edmonton Elks nabbed two of the three spots on the Canadian Football League’s weekly list of top players. Quarterback Cody Fajardo and defensive back J.J. Ross were named the league’s offensive and defensive players of Week 11 following Saturday’s 42-12 win at home over the Toronto Argonauts. Fajardo, in his second season guiding the Elks’ attack, passed for 301 yards and a touchdown, and avoided being intercepted, while gaining 50 yards on the ground. Ross intercepted two Argonauts passes, including one for a TD, while recording four defensive tackles and a forced fumble to pace his team’s defence. The nod was Fajardo’s second such honour this year. B.C. Lions running back Zander Horvath was named top special teams player to round out the list in his team’s 30-26 win over the Calgary Stampeders on Friday. The Elks, who sit in first place in the West Division with a 7-3 record, return to action on Friday at Commonwealth Stadium against the visiting Winnipeg Blue Bombers (5-4).
