People in Jasper National Park might notice visible smoke this week as Parks Canada staff work to burn brush piles and thin out vegetation. The brush fires will be happening west of the town on Pyramid Beach, near the community fireguard, Parks Canada said in a social media post. All the burning is being managed by Parks Canada fire crews and will only happen when weather conditions are safe, Parks Canada said. The park added crews are working to reduce the amount of smoke. If people see smoke in the area, there’s no need to call 911 or emergency services. No trail closures are also in effect during the burning. The work is expected to continue throughout the winter and next spring.
