Students move into residence at Edmonton’s MacEwan University

MacEwan University students move into residence for the 2025-26 school year on Aug. 29, 2025.

Students at downtown Edmonton’s MacEwan University moved into their campus residences on Friday.

About 600 students settled into their new homes. Resident assistants helped educate students on the programs the school offers.

Over the next few days, the university’s residence life department will hold nine orientation week events for students to help them get to know their neighbours, including a campfire, laser tag, a pub night, and trips to the zoo and Ikea.

“(There will be) a lot of opportunities for people to make friends and get to know their neighbours,” Shreeta Panchmatia, MacEwan’s residence life manager, told CTV News Edmonton.

“I have a team of 24 staff that will be knocking on doors, getting them to get out and meet their roommates.”
