Remains of St. Albert infant likely put in dumpster, police looking to narrow timeline

RCMP say the remains of a five-month-old Braylee Beasley are likely in a local landfill. Her mother's body was found in an apartment in January.

As Mounties continue to probe the death of Ayla Egotik-Learn, 23, and the presumed death of her five-month-old daughter Braylee Beasley, investigators say the infant’s body may have been placed in a dumpster near Sturgeon Point Villas Apartments in St. Albert some time between mid September and mid November of last year.

“Before we start a large-scale search of the disposal sites, we need to narrow down a time frame,” Cpl. Matthew Howell of the Alberta RCMP told reporters on Tuesday.

“The amount of waste disposal that happens in such a big time frame across multiple municipalities is immense, and we want to be sure that once we get started on searching these landfills that we are giving ourselves the best possible possibility of finding the remains.”

RCMP initially believed that Egotik-Learn and her daughter were killed in December.

Howell says the pair was last seen in September, which changes the timeline of the investigation.

“The last time they were seen by family was sometime in the beginning of September,” he said.

Braylee’s father and Egotik-Learn’s common law partner, 33-year-old Christopher William Beasley, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and two counts of indignity to a body. The charges of indignity pertain to both Egotik-Learn and Braylee.

Court documents show that Beasley pleaded guilty to assaulting Egotik-Learn in 2025 and was put on 18 months probation. He was also charged with uttering threats and choking her early that year, but those charges were withdrawn.
