A string of thefts in an apartment complex involving glue on door frames have Edmonton Police Service (EPS) warning residents to be aware of break-ins while away for the summer season. On July 7, apartment security at a complex near 106 Street and 97 Avenue reported that several units had been broken into and various items stolen. The two thieves were seen in surveillance footage. EPS said in a release that they used glue to mark the door frames of units they were targeting to gauge which ones were left unoccupied for longer amounts of time. Police have not yet identified the thieves, who were last seen in the area from midnight to 1 a.m. on July 1. In the meantime, police ask residents to “remain vigilant” when leaving their property for extended periods of time. This can mean having a trusted friend, family member or neighbour check on your place while you’re away and securing valuables.
