A Red Deer man is accused of a racially motivated assault on a stranger outside Parkland Mall last week. The attack happened around 4:20 p.m. on Oct. 15. The man allegedly approached and punched another male, whose age RCMP did not disclose, “while yelling racial comments,” witnesses told responding police officers. Investigators say the victim did not know their assailant, who was charged with assault, uttering threats, and wilful promotion of hatred. A trial has been scheduled for Jan. 12, 2026.
