A daycare in northern Alberta has been issued a probationary license. The province says Happy House Daycare (South) in Cold Lake has an ongoing history of non-compliance with provincial standards. According to a news release, concerns included unsafe toys and equipment. The probationary license will expire on Feb. 5, 2026, and the daycare will be closely monitored by the province in the interim. Prior to issuing the probationary license, the province reduced the daycare’s capacity from 310 to 286 spaces in August.
