Police seek victims, witnesses after Grierson Hill rock-throwing incident

Police have charged a teenaged boy and girl after at least one vehicle had its windshield smashed by a rock last week. CTV News Edmonton's Nahreman Issa reports

Edmonton police are looking for more people affected by or who witnessed rocks thrown at vehicles last weekend on Grierson Hill Road to come forward.

Police in a media release Wednesday said they charged two teenagers with mischief and assault with a weapon on Friday after officers answered a call claiming rocks were being thrown at cars from a pedestrian bridge on the road that runs below the downtown convention centre.

Police said the 41-year-old driver of a vehicle that had its windshield smashed by a rock detained a 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl until officers arrived.

Acting Staff Sgt. Bryan Langevin said in the media release police believe there may be more victims or witnesses.

Anyone who may have witnessed rocks being thrown at vehicles or who had their vehicle hit on Grierson Hill between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday is asked to call police at 780-423-4567.
