Edmonton police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing a cellphone from a woman on Jasper Avenue, but charges are pending while they search for that woman. On Aug. 21, a video began circulating on social media of a man snatching a cellphone from a woman standing in front of 10303 Jasper Ave., said a news release from Edmonton Police Service (EPS). In the video, the suspect is walking away eastbound when a bystander with a cane can be seen attempting to stop the theft. EPS said the suspect was known to them and arrested on Aug. 23., but charges have not been laid yet. To advance the investigation, police say they need to find and speak to the woman whose phone was stolen. Police are also looking to speak with the person who shot the original video, the man with the cane and any other witnesses.
