After the Edmonton region saw the most snow it has seen in 25 years, the city is deploying its fleet of snow plows to residential and industrial areas ahead of a major thaw. Vehicles parked in residential areas while crews work to clear snow may be ticketed or towed. Crews may also skip neighbourhoods if there are too many vehicles parked in the area and reschedule plows. Between Dec. 17 and Dec. 22, the city issued 113 tickets and towed 12 vehicles during a Phase 1 parking ban. Another Phase 1 parking ban from Dec. 28 to New Year’s Eve saw 132 tickets issued and 21 tows. The city suggests that people find alternate parking solutions like in driveways, alleys, garages or on any roads cleared during the Phase 1 ban if parking is permitted.
