Andrew Knack is Edmonton’s mayor elect and the results of ward councillors are almost all in. These are the results as of 8:30 a.m. CTV News has declared the following incumbents winners in their respective wards: Thu Parmar beat Better Edmonton’s Darrell Friesen in Ward sipiwiyiniwak by 627 votes following a recount. The initial count had Friesen ahead by just six votes. Jon Morgan narrowly won against Ward Ipiihkoohkanipiaohtsi incumbent Jennifer Rice by 630 votes. Better Edmonton’s Reed Clarke won in Ward Nakota Isga by 458 votes. Michael Elliot with the Better Edmonton Party won in Ward pihêsiwin by 1,973 votes. Cartmell concedes Tim Cartmell conceded in a letter sent out Tuesday afternoon and congratulated Andrew Knack, who’s led Edmonton’s mayoral race since vote counting began. “Last night didn’t turn out the way we hoped, but I can tell you this: I have never been more proud of the people standing beside me,” wrote Cartmell. “This afternoon, I reached out to congratulate Andrew Knack. He has a big job ahead, and I truly wish him success.” Knack delivered a victory speech at 3 p.m. He thanked his supporters, recognized Cartmell for his service, and laid out some of his priorities as mayor. “With exceptional growth comes opportunity. No doubt there are problems, but with all this momentum, we are building to a new moment, a moment where every new business knows the city has their back, where we welcome new families and every student who stays here to build their career, and with every senior who calls our city home,” Knack said. “Over the last 12 years on city council and throughout this campaign, I have listened to tens of thousands of Edmontonians, and I will continue to listen.” Full mayoral and ward results below.
