Crash closes Highway 21 overpass, slows traffic on Highway 14: RCMP

A bridge in Strathcona County is being assessed after it was damaged by a truck hauling a trailer.

The Highway 21 overpass south of Sherwood Park was closed Friday after it was hit by a truck hauling a grain silo.

RCMP said the truck hit the underside of the overpass, causing “significant” damage.

The overpass was closed and traffic on Highway 14, which passes underneath it, was slowed down.

Mounties said the bridge would remain closed while assessments were made but did not offer a timeline.
